Pietermaritzburg - ANC president Jacob Zuma has won his bid to have the decision to prosecute him on corruption and other charges declared unlawful.
Judge Chris Nicholson gave his judgment to a packed Pietermaritzburg High Court on Friday morning.
He said that while the application had nothing to do with Zuma's guilt or otherwise, it was a procedural matter.
Thousands of supporters broke into applause outside the court on the news of the verdict.
Okay, even I have just got slightly more pessimistic about SA now.
this country and its government is a fscking joke...can't belive this ! it was all going well before 1994 but they just had to fsck it up to the fscking max....
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=2034367#post2034367IMO, the ANC's strategy is clear, they are trying to politicise what is quite clearly a criminal matter that just happens to involve a political figure. And judging by the submissions made in KZN a while back, they are succeeding.
This is not IMO a political matter, and they trying to exploit the NPA's handling of the matter to it's advantage. The NPA should have prosecuted this case at the same time with Shaik, if the evidence was enough to convict him, then it should have been enough to convict Zuma.
Now in waiting and other factors that have been factored in, gives an impression, to those not familiar with the working of the justice system, of a political which hunt which "poor" Zuma has to defend himself against.
We sometimes on this forum say they are stupid, but it is starting to look to me the opposite is true.
My 2c...
Pietermaritzburg - It was bizarre that African National Congress president Jacob Zuma was not charged alongside his former financial adviser Schabir Shaik, if it was true that there was prima facie evidence against him, Judge Chris Nicholson said on Friday.
"It was bizarre to say the least," he told the Pietermaritzburg High Court while handing down judgment in an application to have the decision to prosecute Zuma declared invalid.
