Zuma found "Not guilty"!

A man enjoying women in a reckless fashion should in no way have been associated with moral issues - like being a hot shot in government.

His attitude towards AIDS strenghtens this view.

But: I agree, the judge had lots of reason to find that he could in no way be sure that this woman was indeed raped.

From the bits and pieces I read, I saw lies (all over), shameless admissions, dirty living, and bad policework, and terrible prosecution ( they did not seem to be aware of complainants background).
 
He is a criminal and hopefully the truth will come out in the future. Believe what you want to but only 6% of rape cases are prosecuted succesfully. Go figure. I do belive he raped her and i am entitled to my belief. I know how words are manipulated in a court trial. Just sends out a strong message to rapists and complainants.
 
Bear in mind " Not Guilty" is not the same as innocent. Not Guilty indicates that there is "reasonable doubt" as to his guilt and he is given the benefit of that doubt>

I don't see what the huge fuss about this is. Taken from a legal standpoint, the case against him (as the judge saw it) was bloody awful. You'd have a better chance of proving that I was Hitler than getting a guilty in this trial. I'd always thought there was more of a case?

Anti, wherever you have a rape case it is your word against the opposed. especially if it happened at home and no witnesses other than family exists! Bring age in context and what would in make Zuma if she was 13, probably would still be consensual in our law as that is the "ready" age in Africa culture!
 
African culture also says that sleeping with virgins will cure AIDS, which accounts for all the sick baby rapes. Their culture doesn't qualify as a viable testimony in court. It was not so much about Zuma proving his innocence, it was more about the lady being unable to prove that he was guilty. Therefore in my eyes he is NOT innocent, there just wasn't enough evidence and he got the benefit of the doubt. Bringing african culture into his testimony kind of sounds like a desperate thing to say knowing that it holds no value in court. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he was acting out of desparation.

No - innocence has got nothing to do with it - either guilty or not-guilty. To be guilty need conclusive evidence - there was none (it was all hearsay - one persons word against another.) This is not innocence - simply unproven hence not-guilty.
 
look - the prosecutions case was not strong enough to convict him of rape ... therefore he was found non-guilty and if we cannot trust our judicury in this matter then there isn't much hope left for this country

Quite simply the judge mentioned that he found it inappropreate that Zuma (as a man of his possition) did what he did.

Let's all move on - there is still a fat corruption trial sitting on the table .. and considering that Shaik was convicted of 'having a generally corrupt relationship' with Zuma I think that there is a better chance of a conviction there.

This whole rape case was always going to dogy ... right from the moment they found out that the police officers hadn't followed proceedure to when they found the 'victim' mentally unwell (or something like that) ... basically there isn't anything else to be said - move along and hope he doesn't become president :)

oh - and sorry for waffleing ;)
