people understand that government need decent cars to get them to their places, but they don't need to use tax payers money to order the top of the range with all accessories vehicles, That is just bullshyte, and its not ok if the previous government did it or any government did it for that matter, The fact is we pay a high tax to improve the country and instead it going into luxury cars for some useless fat idiots

Ian Smith "rolled" in a Peugeot 406 and he rode a bicycle. And he was the "big chief" of the time. Says something, don't you think? Diabolical I tell you! ;)

Also, I'm interested, because you seem to know - what examples of bling cars can you give us that the old NP dolled out to the top dogs of the time? I don't deny it happened but I was too young to recall. Vehicles in presidential cavalcades don't count though since that is geared toward security.

I don't think the objecting public expects our ministers to plod along in smart cars or anything but a modicum of modesty in the choice of government vehicles would be so refreshing I think it'd bring a tear of joy to my eye.

I love how our Haitian aid contribution doesn't even cover the cost of one of these fat-cats' rides. It's hilarious! :D
 
Now I can't find the thread where they first announced this hotline. I recall me saying that this is the 'biggest placebo in the world'?

Anyway now I don't even get to say I told you so.
 
@ Justask: You see no problem with government ministers buying themselves multi-milion rand cars while the people they are meant to be serving can't even buy a loaf of bread? What the hell is wrong with you?

Because it was done in pre 94 doesn't mean it was right. Post 94 we were all supposed to see the benefits of a demorcratically elected governmunt with all new policies.

The car policy was obviouisly seen to be quite good by the new leaders and was retained and in fact improved upon:(

Did you know that more African heads of state have the use of executive jets than the rest of the world put together? It's also the poorest continent in the world?

please give us some examples of the da not being accountable to the public.

anyways, the hotline was a great idea imo. and great ideas have to be given a chance whether you like the party or not.
it's good that the DA is keeping the ANC accountable, because nobody else seems to care. whether their sample was representative of all cases is subject of another debate.

and if the thing isn't working, either fix it or can it. just don't waste anymore time and money on some convoluted pr stunt.

and let's judge each case by its merits rather than bringing some unrelated bias into the fray...

Wow! The first ANC supporter on the forum. Welcome.

We are not talking about the previous government or any other government. We are discussing problems with the current SA government. The DA's job is to find fault. When they come into power, it will be the ANC's job to find any problems and let all of us know. The point is that Zuma has promised so much and have delivered nothing so far. It is very easy to talk, but much harder to actually deliver. I do not think for one second that the ANC believes in their current mandate. They are simply trying to setup a dictatorship as soon as possible.
