Johannesburg - ANC president Jacob Zuma on Tuesday said he is "not guilty - and not even half guilty" of corruption.

"Any South African citizen, if he has charges against him, he must prove his innocence," Zuma told a conference in Johannesburg.

"I'm a South African citizen and as a citizen I want charges to be concluded."

The State was the only entity that knew whether or not it had a case against him.

"For seven years I've been investigated and I've appeared many times in court," he said.

He had always been ready to face charges but the State had not been prepared.

"It's the State that's in control here - and if the case comes up, I'm ready."

On Monday lawyers for Zuma filed papers with the Pietermaritzburg High Court arguing that his corruption trial should be declared invalid.

Zuma's lawyer Michael Hulley said the National Prosecuting Authority had been sent copies of the document and that the matter was expected to be heard in the Pietermaritzburg court on August 4 and 5. This would be ahead of the start of his corruption trial on August 14.

ROFL, what kinda statement is that???

:(:(:o:o:D:D Lol , that is funny.....

But he has a valid point in the fact that it has bee the state asking to pospone the hearing everytime :(

Weird...I would have claimed "innocent until proven guilty in his position".

Well if he is innocent then why isn't he open with the evidence?
Oh thats right, he is only 7.5% guilty. Which is not even close to being half guilty. Not even close people!

Yeah tell me about it haha
I bash school and how useless it is, but looking back, I think perhaps it was half worth it :D

Gimme a break! He has fought the state every step if the way to avoid his "day in court". But I guess if you repeat a lie often enough people start to think it is true.

One example: His most recent court action.
Two example: His court action in Mauritius

Me thinks he really doesn't want his day in court.

Reminds me of that old joke. The breeker in the bar avoiding a fight by backing into his friends with his arms outstretched saying "Hold me back or I'll kill him!"

Half as guilty? Does that mean he is half as guilty as it seems and the truth is much worse?

i still don't get it:if shaik was found guilty for bribing zuma, how the **** is zuma not automatically also guilty?

I dont think Shaik was convicted of bribing Zuma directly was he?

to my knowledge, yes he was.of course the state ****ed it up when they chose not to charge them both at the same time...
