What is going on within the NILC ?

Last year they called for the nation to back off from the Hlope debacle, now they want us to move on from the Zuma debacle.

Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma should be forgiven and the nation should "move on", the National Interfaith Leaders Council (NILC) said on Monday.

"Let us leave this episode behind us, regrettable as it is, and move on as a nation," the council said.

"The NILC calls for prayer for our president and his family and for healing and forgiveness in what has been a difficult week for the nation."

Absolved

They said since Zuma had apologised and "confessed" after news broke that he had fathered a child with a girlfriend, faith dictated he be absolved.

"It is now up to us as South Africans whether we want to inflict further pain or offer forgiveness."

They encouraged all South Africans to "reciprocate the president's openness and humility on this matter with grace and mercy"

Perhaps it has something to do with the Convenor of the NILC - the irreverent Ray McCauley.

So much for separation of the church and state.
 
Ray McCauley can suck his own Tottie as far as I'm concerned.

Zuma should not be forgiven, in fact he needs to be investigated more thoroughly and then charged.
 
Zuma had no choice but to come clean. So now his behaviour is acceptable? Every time he transgresses he must make a public absolution and we can all go on?
 
The ANC should recall Zuma and send him back to Nkandla for cultural cleansing. He is a sick person that needs help before he starts to infect the nation. Irvin Khoza has already lost one daughter from aids-related complications.

I don't get it ...

why they cannot forgive apartheid? (still blame for apartheid fault)

why they cannot forgive white? (AA/BEE etc)

why they cannot forgive murders? (I killed your family and I’ll say “ooooops sorry, forgive me!”)

why they cannot forgive rapists? (rape is fine! anc gvt is raping tax payers EVERYDAY…… :D)

if they can forgive ALL of them, why we need "laws and orders" and "moral value"?
if not, why soma is "forgivable"?

but it doesn’t matter......... those zombies will still vote him back in power after four years later.
 
nilc is a pointless body. at the end of the day, consensus can't be reached between faiths, let alone within faiths.
why a body like nilc is even listened to is a mystery. they speak on behalf of everybody and nobody.
how can their leader be looked to for any kind of moral leadership when he has clearly failed in this area?

in any normal country, a leader is appointed to do a job and his personal life, if not criminal, should fall outside of this.
but, in a country where aids is such a huge issue, the leader should be setting the example.
his personal life comes into question because it determines whether he can effectively lead in this area, or whether his actions will lead to greater societal harm.
the answer is that his continued lifestyle will further harm society - because the people who elected him see him as a benchmark of permissive behaviour.
and, normally, if somebody can't be responsible, you need to remove their privilege of authority until they have proven that they can be trusted again.

the problem is, that the same people who appointed him, cannot now judge him, because they knew all of this when they appointed him as leader.
why they suddenly have an issue with it is beyond me.
perhaps a little bit of infidelity is okay, but open promiscuity is somehow less acceptable. where exactly is that moral line?
 
Low class electorate! They do not know what it is to ru(i)n a country! They will vote for the sex addict tomorrow again, and again, they are going to vote for a change in constitution to keep JZ on forever! He now deserves it!
 
Zuma needs some sex addiction therapy and quick. Some reports say he has around 40 kids. With a huge ego and an African 10 incher he needs help since he obviously can't stop on his own.

What are you suggesting? Am I wrong to say that Zuma has a serious problem? 40 kids.. raping hiv women, love children, etc.
 
The ANC hasn't lost its soul, it has just jumped into Zuma's pants!

Amazing how many people are crying for JZ to be punished for his escapades.

Well I am sure that JZ isn't the first politician to father a child out of wedlock.

Its called accountability, something we dont see often with SA politicians.

True , but people tend to generalize .... and conveniently forget that the pre-1994 Government wasn't a model of accountability as well ;)

People need to view matters without prejudice - because not only in SA but the world , viewing matters with a skewed perspective is not the way to go.

I am so glad that I grew up in the post-1994 SA .
