Johannesburg - Jacob Zuma, a possible successor to Thabo Mbeki as South African President, said on Saturday the country needed leaders ready for "the challenge of revolution."

"Our revolution is going through a test," Zuma, deputy president of the ANC said in a speech in Port Elizabeth.

"Therefore we need a leadership (able) to cross this troubled waters," he told 2 000 delegates at the South African Communist Party's annual congress.

Zuma, very popular with the ANC left-wing, may succeed Mbeki at the helm of the party at the end of the year - assuming Mbeki does no want to run for a third term.

The communists are coalition partners of the ANC, but most of the party's ministers stayed away from the congress.

This was interpreted as a sign of increasing frustration from the grass roots of the party towards the government, which is not considered to be doing enough for the country's poor.

What does he mean under leadership, that is a careless word to throw around without explaining it in proper context, did he?

Strong leadership would be himself? I have heard nothing about his leadership skills, qualifications, experience and past performance. I have only heard that he is a corrupt rapist.

Therefore he maybe or would be crowned king. There is no ethic way of selecting a leader in Africa. Look at the rest of Africa for proof. Why would it be any better here? Madiba is gone now only the c@rp remains.

Maybe he's envious of King Rob Mugabe upstairs.

I swear that man has a talent for ucking things up without getting killed

What a role model!!

Never a truer statement said.

Unfotunately most of SA is completely dillusional (see any post by Shaka) or ignorant and i think the government has purposefully kept the majority ingnorant or brainwashed to further thier corrupt agandas.

Their is no consequences for any actions taken by ANC/government/high-profile members and that will be the downfall of SA.

O, just in case you were wondering, I'm not a racist, I just enjoy freedom

Mugabe is a modern day Louis XVI (check the history of the French revolution)

Dictators, Dictators never change!!!

Why some bitter people seem not to stop mentioning Mugabe name in the negative way, when he has done so much great thing for Zimbabwe and Africa, despite the economic sabotage run against Zimbabwe by the enemy of African people. Even when the topic is about Zuma they bring back Mugabe name in it. Back to Zuma, i will say his supporters in the SACP and Cosatu are worrying me. The SACP Deputy General Secretary said ugly things about Mugabe and Zanu-pf, Vavi from Cosatu in the past said crazy things about Mugabe too. if zuma has the same opinion as those 2 retarded then he doesn't qualify as a leader who want to free Africa from Europe domination and restore it as Africa dominated place

What great things has he done for Zim or Africa?

You know, reading your posts I wouldn't be surprised if you're actually a banned member just coming back to stir things up. You really need to grow up and stop trolling. If what you say is in fact your true opinion then by all means you're entitled to it. And since when are we dominated by Europe? Time to build a time machine and warp you back to the future because you are definitely living in the Dark Age.

I'm sure Louis XVI said the same thing about England :D

Study history and predict the future. Mugabe is not the first dictator to ruin a country economically. I must say he was quite successful. It took 4 American presidents (Reagan, Johnston, Bush snr, Bush jnr) to morally bankrupt America. He's did in 10 years what took other dictators over 30 years to achieve.

We fear Zuma, because he stirs up the same irrational and dogmatic beliefs that Mugabe does. Leaders like him (also Hitler and Bush) stir up anger and racism and provide no moral leadership. That is why they are dangerous.
