Cape Town - The presidency is all a-Twitter about the forthcoming State of the Nation address and has requested its “twamily” to give the president their views, ideas and comments.

The Presidency’s Twitter account is @PresidencyZA and people can join the conversation on #SONA2011.

The deadline for suggestions is today and to use the website, the following must be noted: @ comes in front of a username and will allow connection to that user’s profile, eg. @PresidencyZA. # (hashtag) used to create threads or conversations, eg. #SONA2011 is a conversation about the State of the Nation address this year, so @ and # must always be used.

Comments posted, include:

l Address existing gaps in education, income and access to basic services such as water, sanitation, housing and electricity. The quality of health care services to the poor should be improved. Roll out social programmes educating the poor about the value of proper nutrition.

l Fire all crooks in government.

l Economic inequality a leading source of social division – must be addressed substantively in policy and programming.

l A timeline to move the single buyer office out of Eskom and set up an independent systems and market operator. Demand ambitious targets for the uptake of renewable energy. SA is one of the highest emitters of carbon per capita.

l Free education including university.

Common' folks, JZ wana tweet with ya'll :D

Actually a very forward thinking idea. Well done to whoever thought of it.

Social media can be a very powerful platform to interact with voters. Barack Obama had a field day using Facebook to get voters and to garner support in winning the presidency. The White House now has dedicated personnel that actually use Facebook to communicate with the voters on a daily basis.

So yeah, this social medium via Twitter can be an effective means to get a feel of what voters really want done. That said, if there is any real possibilty of positive change, I will be rather surprised.

Dear President:

Please stop F**king up the country.

Thank you

Twister.

Ps. Here's a couple of (@) (@) to look at when you're not working

@PresidencyZA .. so how about that corruption trial that was conveniently swept under the carpet?

Zuma is a skelm and has more babies than Moses, which invalidates everything else he ever does.
