Google Play now warns you when an app has ads
Google’s marketplace for Android has started rolling out a feature which adds labels to apps that contain advertisements, Venturebeat reported.
It posted a screenshot from Reddit showing that the label is placed right below the install button, and will be to the left of the in-app purchases label if it also applies.
Venturebeat said that Google’s new labelling drive began with the Designed for Families programme in 2015. It then expanded to all apps from November 2015.
Developers had until 11 January to log into the Google Play Developer Console and state whether their apps contained ads or not.
Google’s new policy covers any type of ad being shown throughout the app, whether native, display, banner, or served up through third-party networks.
The feature does not appear to have rolled out to the whole Android userbase yet, as many report that they do not yet see the label.
