Data Sim has launched its latest mobile SIM, offering unlimited data, 10GB free Wi-Fi, and R50 free airtime for R169 per month.
The company is also offering an additional R300 airtime once off to the first 2,000 customers who sign up for the service.
The unlimited data SIM offers unlimited Internet browsing, social media, instant messaging, and email. Blocked services include YouTube, porn sites, and movie and music downloads.
A benefit of the service is that it is relatively risk free. “This is not a contract and you can cancel at any time by simply not paying the next month’s fee,” said Data Sim.
Data Sim founder Saeed Moosa said users will be able to access mobile Internet using their smartphones, dongles, or compatible routers.
The launch follows two unsuccessful attempts by Data Sim to launch an uncapped service.
Moosa explained the previous problems were caused because the mobile operators were not aware Data Sim was selling data services.
“We are now allowed to sell data services because we make use of a re-seller agreement,” said Moosa.
Moosa said that their pre-order sales have been good, and that they only have 1,600 promotional SIMs with R300 airtime left.
