DStv Now getting Chromecast support
MultiChoice has built Chromecast support for its DStv Now app and is waiting on the relevant content licensing to be finalised before rolling out the feature.
Graeme Cumming, group general manager of digital media at DStv Digital Media, said several features, including Chromecasting, were unlocked when DStv decided to stop supporting Flash earlier this year.
“We’re busy getting studio clearances to do Chromecasting,” he said. “There are restrictions on there.”
Another feature built into DStv Now after switching to a native HTML player was adaptive bitrate streaming.
The switch also allowed DStv to reduce the amount of buffering needed before a video starts.
