Dropped call stats for SA revealed
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) recently published the license compliance reports of SA’s telecommunications operators which showed the connectivity failure rate reported by the companies.
In its submissions to ICASA, Vodacom and MTN explained that they looked at the call set-up success and dropped call rates to determine their connectivity failure rates.
Amongst other things, ICASA requires that an operator’s connectivity failure rate be no greater than 3% to comply with its end user service subscriber charter.
The five operators listed below all complied with this requirement and ICASA said during a media briefing on Monday (16 April 2012) that no license compliance matters were referred to its Complaints and Compliance Committee.
The table below shows the connectivity failure statistics of Telkom (8ta), Neotel, Vodacom, MTN, and Cell C:
Connectivity failure statistics reported by operators | ||
Operator | 1 April 2010 – 30 September 2010 | 1 October 2010 – 31 March 2011 |
