MTN BlackBerry data problems explained
MTN said in a press statement today (18 April 2013) that, during March 2013, it detected a technical error that occurred on its system causing its tiered service BlackBerry customers depleting their data at a faster rate than usual.
The BlackBerry tiered service is also often referred to as BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS).
According to MTN, it has implemented an interim solution to prevent the rapid depletion of subscribers’ BlackBerry bundles.
Chief executive officer of MTN SA, Karel Pienaar, said that they are monitoring this solution and will continue to do so until their range of BlackBerry services operate as intended.
“We wish to assure our customers that we are working tirelessly to find a speedy resolution to this issue,” Pienaar said.
“In keeping with our promise, the affected customers are being provided with an additional 200MB bundle,” said Pienaar.
“We apologise to our loyal customers for the interrupted experience. This is certainly not consistent with our standards,” he concluded.
