Cell C eating MTN’s cake: report
Blue Label Telecoms reported its financial results for the year ended on 31 May 2013 recently, which revealed that Cell C has gained 2% market share in the mobile prepaid market, while MTN lost 2%.
The Sunday Times reported that Cell C grew its prepaid market share to 12%, up from 10% a year ago. MTN’s market share over the same period declined from 38% to 36%.
Vodacom remained the dominant player with 51% market share, while Telkom Mobile is struggling with only 1% share of the prepaid market.
The newspaper quoted Blue Label Telecoms CEO Brett Levy as saying that he expects Cell C to gain further market share in future.
