Cell C taking market share from MTN

I'd take this with a pinch of salt (not that CellC is taking customers, but the amount) - Blue Label telecoms and AKC are BFF's, and have been caught doing dodgy deals on preferential SMS pricing... if they're getting cheaper CellC pricing, it might just be that they're promoting their airtime more.

I very much doubt blue label would fake results. What is the point?

How many people port away from Cell C a few months later when they realise they cannot use their phones anymore? Oh wait, those stuck in their new contracts dont.

2%?
My gardener was using VC a year ago...
chatted to him....he says most are on Cellc now...

me thinks the figures takes a while to filter down....MTN and VC will keep those inactive subs alive on the network for a while to keep the stats up.

lets rehash this in a year when they start churning cause the licenses they have to pay outweighs the benefits.

we just may see MTN react to cell c if MTN react expect Vodacom to react

Depends where you are. Where I am, Cell C is great. I ditched MTN after many years and switched to Cell C. I also got my parents to drop MTN and switch to Cell C. They're really happy. Reception is better where they live and they enjoy the free Cell C to Cell C minutes they get every time they recharge. They're paying much less now for cell phone usage.

I am porting across all my contracts as they mature - it's a no brainer. The hassles MTN gives in porting just reinforce the decision

I am also cancelling my MTN contracts as they end. First one up is my data contract, I tried to cancel last week, but they said I can only cancel 30 days before. On the internet it says at least 30 days. MTN's system is so messed up, they really lost me when they had that billing issue that took way to long to resolve.

I am one of the people who moved from MTN. I save a lot, but where I don't have wifi I really wish I was back on MTN. I hope Cell C can fix their network! Never had problems with calls on C, but to use Skype and Google Hangout on my phone I've had to purchase a Telkom Mobile sim card because Cell C is just useless. When I'm at home though. ADSL for the win!

Im not surprised, mtnzone gives 30% discount for calls on weekends after 10pm; its cheaper to use cell c 99cents compared to all mtn tariffs 24/7, cell c

I am actually disappointed. That figure is too low. With all the complaints of high prices, one would expected a mass exodus.
Just show how stupid SA consumers are.
