Cell C MyTools end-date announced
Cell C has warned subscribers that it plans to discontinue its MyTools web-based subscriber services on 11 December 2013.
Asked about the decision, a spokesperson for the operator told MyBroadband that the product was only being used by a very small percentage of their customers.
“Several of the existing MyTools functions will be made available to users in other forms (such as the voicemail to email function) and more information will be communicated as they go live,” Cell C said.
The operator launched the MyTools beta to the Silicon Cape community during January 2011.
Later that year the mobile network operator announced that MyTools had won the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award in the consumer services category.
In addition to the visual voicemail feature mentioned by the Cell C spokesperson, MyTools also offered users an online dashboard to configure call filters and individualised voicemail greetings, as well as an online phonebook.
