Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and Note launch window, pricing in SA
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, and new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 range of Android tablets PCs are set to launch in South Africa during Q2 2012, the Korean electronics giant recently told MyBroadband.
Samsung confirmed the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 for South Africa during its Africa Forum event in Cape Town earlier this year, and has now confirmed that the 10-inch model of the new Galaxy Tab 2 range will also be launched here.
Neither device has an estimated retail price yet.
Although Samsung didn’t share the expected pricing of its upcoming Galaxy Tab 2 range, it said that that it expected the Galaxy Note 10.1 to sell for around R8,849 in SA.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was revealed during February at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona as a larger version of the 5-inch phablet (phone/tablet PC combo) launched last year, sporting an “S-Pen” that works on a capacitive touch screen.
The Verge recently reported that Samsung shied away from revealing US release dates and pricing for the Note 10.1. According to the report, a Samsung representative said that the device that goes on sale could differ from what was shown off at MWC.
