Sony Xperia Z2 tablet SA launch window
Sony Mobile Communications introduced the Xperia Z2 tablet PC during its event at Mobile World Congress on Monday, 24 February 2014.
In a press statement accompanying the announcement, Sony said that the tablet PC would be available in South Africa from the second quarter of 2014.
The Xperia Z2 will be available in a Wi-Fi only and 3G/LTE model, Sony said.
As with the recently announced Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, the Xperia Z2 tablet will include the “Xperia Privilege Application,” which will give users access to six Sony Entertainment movies.
Users will be able to choose 6 movies to download out of a selection of 10, including the film Captain Phillips.
Sony summarised the key features of the Xperia Z2 tablet as follows:

- Weight: 426g for Wi-Fi, 439g for LTE/3G
- Environmental rating: Waterproof (IP55/IP58)
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 with 2.3 GHz quad-core Krait CPU
- Memory: 3GB RAM
- Internal storage: Up to 16GB, with microSD support
