Apple MacBook Pro with Retina updated
Apple has announced in a press release on Tuesday, 29 July 2014, that it has updated its line of MacBook Pro with Retina display notebooks.
The update includes faster processors, double the memory in both entry-level configurations, and a lower starting price for the top-of-the-line 15-inch MacBook Pro.
This means the default memory configuration of the $1,299 and $1,499 MacBook now includes 8GB of RAM.
Processor speeds have also increased slightly across the board, with the two cheapest models powered by 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 processors by default.
The high-end 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina also received a slight CPU boost to its base model, now shipping with a 2.8GHz processor.
Similar incremental improvements to Apple’s 15-inch Retina MacBook line are also evident, with the price of the high-end 15-inch model now starting at $2,499.
Apple also lowered the starting price of the non-Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro to $1,099.
The updated range is available immediately through Apple’s US store, and while no mention was made of an international release, the changes are expected to be announced in South Africa in the coming weeks.
