Let’s fight ad-blockers: Google executive

Google executive Sridhar Ramaswamy has said the online advertising industry should address problems like autoplay videos, excessive tracking, and complex and slow-loading content.

Speaking at the Wall Street Journal’s WSJD Live Conference, Ramaswamy said the industry needs to address the growth of ad-blocking tools.

He said publishers and advertisers should respond within months, and welcomed guidelines suggested by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).

The IAB’s Tech Lab recently launched the L.E.A.N. Ads programme, which promotes “Light, Encrypted, Ad choice supported, Non-invasive ads”.

“These are principles that will help guide the next phases of advertising technical standards for the global digital advertising supply chain,” said the IAB.
