Lets post some pictures of our Home Theatre setups. Also include what equipment you are running.

I have a Samsung PS42B430 plasma, Sony HT-DDW5000 & a Xbox 360.

Its funny how I spent over 15k on HT equipment over the last few months and still my stuff is rated as budget equipment.

Only problems I have with my setup is the plasma's little connectivity options. But for the price I paid its great.

Thanks, marco. The problem with this stuff is, no matter what you have, you always want to upgrade something.
 
I've posted once before, but since that was the 2nd night I got the TV - the cables weren't neatened up as yet.

*Samsung 46" B650 LCD
*Marantz DV7600 DVD
*Marantz SR5002 amplifier
*Onkyo 595 amplifer (sitting idle)
*Xbox 360
*Logitech Squeezebox
*TViX 6500 (internal 1TB)
*Elac 209 JET main speakers
*Elac 201 center speaker

The Squeezebox, Xbox 360 and TV are connected to a Linksys WRT160N via ethernet - which is connected to another PC upstairs via wireless N. The media PC stores my music, the TViX stores my movies and I have another 500GB above the DVD player attached to the TV for photo's or general stuff.

I prefer any PC equipment in the lounge to look good or be hidden - so the PC is hidden in a cupboard below the TV, the wireless router is flat with no antenna and the WD My Book hard drive looks pretty fantastic too.

All controlled by a Logitech Harmoney One
 
Depends really ...

46" TV's range from R15,000.00 to R50,0000.00
AV amps range from R3,000.00 to R50,000.00
Speakers range from R3,0000.00 to R200,000.00

So two people can both have a 46" Full HD with surround sound - and one could have paid R21,000.00 and the other R300,000.00 ;) Plus you may not need some gadgets - such as the media PC, the seperate streamers (or even combined).

I started out enjoying my CD's and sound, so my sound has always been much better than my vision. I've only gone Full HD in the past 3 weeks and don't even have a BD player.

Dolby is correct, it really depends what you get.

It's a process. I don't recommend going out and buying everything at once. Start with the basics and grow from there, but make sure you buy the best you can afford at the time of each purchase. Furthermore, buying one component at a time allows you the appreciate each device so much more.

Don't write off a good quality stereo system. Spend more on good Front speakers and much less on the Surrounds.

There are also good quality demo and second-hand kit available which can save you a bundle.

TV: Samsumg 50" Plasma : PS50A410C1
DSTV: ****ty arse single view decoder (PVR HD coming soon)
Amp: Sony STRDB798 (7 x 135W)
DVD: Sony DVP NS52 (first sony dvd player that played DivX :p)
Speakers: the usual that comes with the Sony 7.1 system, but flip that sub is madness
PS3
Got a Kameleon 6 in 1 touch screen universal remote as well
 
When my HTPC gets build I'll take a shot of mine..

My panel is wall mounted simply because I had no other option.
 
I'm moving in a year ... I'd rather not waste the effort for 12 months

I actually bought a wall mount bracket with the TV, but I couldn't wait to switch the TV on so wall mounting was not a priority at the time.

Unbridled impatience!

I am seriously considering it - only drawback I can think of is in the case where you get some glare at certain times of day due to direct sunlight you cant move the telly... but I see some brackets allow for a small tilt, not sure if that's vertical or horizontal.
 
The other possible drawbacks are visible cabling and rear access to inputs and/or usb ports.

For my bedroom LCD, I installed square trunking which I painted the same as the wall.

Yeah... I have to fix my cabling in my cabinet, its a mess right now. Been stuffing round with my SD-PVR - check: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=199055 for that. But I also have square trunking to my LCD, so at least that looks neat!
