Portia Maurice is responsible for the Innovations and Partnering division at Vodacom, focused on developing marketable solutions using mobile technology for social and environmental impact.

Her initial career was in journalism where she worked at the Mail and Guardian, SABC and the Sowetan. In the public sector she led teams in the Department of Education and GCIS in the Presidency.

Portia spent five years as a General Manager at the MTN Group, in the Corporate Affairs and Strategic Investments divisions. More recently she has held roles as the CEO of environmental management company Tedcor and also the Nehanda Group, a women’s investment company.

Portia has an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (University of Pretoria), an MA from London University and an honours degree from the University of Cape Town. She is an alumnus of Rhodes University and of the Harvard/Wits University Senior Executive Programme.
