Android Firmware Over The Air in SA

seriously? they do? :/ wait will this mean froyo will be even more delayed one day when they bring it out for my HTC Desire :/

atleast everyone has their answer for why there was a delay
whoever has broadband can download the fw from their site:)

well they the article is new.so mayb it shud be up in a few days

Excuses excuses... if they're waiting for free, affordable or free bandwidth in SA they're basically saying you wont EVER get it, read between the lines people!

im not making excuses for them.lol jus saying give them the chance to put the rom up

Leaf

Yet another excuse from Leaf. The Hero update has been promised for months now. They are yet again playing for time. Every time I have contacted them I get another story. Even spoke to HTC Europe who couldn't believe we haven't had the upgrade yet, and said they would look into the matter.

HTC and Update

Look I feel everyone's frustration as I'm experiencing it myself.

The biggest issue for me was the empty promises, now it seems we are actually hearing why there hasn't been progress.

I'm not defending the fact that they disappointed us all, because they did, just saying that for the first time it sounds like they are talking about the issues, which is a step forward.

If you can't wait anymore (like myself) and you are willing to do a manual upgrade there's a UK official ROM available and installation instruction here.

I've used it and I'm running 2.1 without issues and the process looks more complicated than it is. If Leaf does release a downloadable version I might re-flash with that, but until then I'm enjoying 2.1.

If anyone want more help on what i did or how I did it before trying it yourself PM me.

Would it not be really simple for the likes of Vodacom and MTN to just reroute data requests to the specific update file to a locally cached version? Then instead of charging the full data price for downloading this file, charge an R20 - R50 update fee.

Cat and Mouse

Stop the BS! Bring the phones leave the updates online and if you know what you are doing update to froyo! Simple. This is seriously making me want to look at Nokia and Maemo! These people (leaf) can't get their &*^t together!

or mayb jus ask the users to come in and flash it for them

"In the meantime Leaf have requested a version of the firmware they can put up on their website for Hero users to download. Customers that aren't comfortable with updating the firmware themselves will be able to take their phone to a store to have it upgraded at no cost."

Sounds like they don't have a version for the website or service providers yet, you would have thought they would have had that by now. Sounds like those of us who can't afford to void our warranty are gonna be waiting longer, but at least there is some news of progress. Thanks to Mybb!

Leaf shud stop making lame excuses it is hurting their image and reputation!
Put the freaking firmware on your website and get it done with...

Leaf = crap

Phoned Leaf the other day and was told that we would not be getting 2.1 but 2.0. Huh? Support I've received from Leaf is shocking to say the least. Decided to root my Hero months ago and haven't regretted it at all.

where are these outlets we can take the phone too? BS leaf you are just another embarrassing poor service company in the same league as telkom. This upgrade should have been available weeks ago and now you are looking for excuses why you have not done it. What a weak excuse you have come up with, Leaf worried about the cost to upgrade the hero. You must think everyone is as stupid as the personnel you have employed in your service department.

Open & free saviour of the Smartphone
