I am currently downloading the EU client... Is this fine or should I download the US one?
 
whichever one you get, I suggest you make sure your friends get the same one. I had the EU one, a friend the US one and you can't play against each other with that! Apparently the US one is a bit more noob friendly and also more densely populated.
 
Damn I got the EU one... Is it possible to change it or do I have to download the whole thing again?
 
Not possible to change. You'll have to get the US one.

EU: Bad players skill wise; under-populated; servers are run by GOA (who are the biggest retards in the northern hemisphere).
 
I started on the EU client a couple of weeks ago, because friends of mine were already playing on EU.

How does the US latency compare to EU? I have a 4mbps line and my latency is about 290ms.
 
I am so addicted to this game it's awesome. Playing on the EU client, someone come join me for some games with my brother!

Yeah this game is addictive, I play US and get ping times of 500....
 
Dunno the whole childish look of it puts me off. Hon much better then this. However another one to look at is www.bloodlinechampions.com. seems quite interresting and differant to any dota like game.
 
I dont really agree with the "childish" look comment. We have atleast 15 guys who play LoL in our clan and we gonna start to play HoN from this weekend on. I think there is room for both games.

I play both games, they are similar, but at the same time soo vastly different and would appeal to different people.

LoL definitely has a much slower pace to it than HoN, I tend to play it when I'm not looking for an intense gaming session, just something to pass the time and rack up some "progress". IMO, LoL is much more casual friendly than HoN combined with the rather addictive collect em' all aspect.

HoN games, unless you outmatch your opponents can be pretty damn intense, definitely a faster pace. For me, it feels this way because hero's across the board are a little bit more squishy, but towers pack much less punch. Basically you can chase your opponents a little further (earlier kills) and hero vs hero leaves little margin for error. The penalties for people feeding are not nearly as lenient as in LoL either, 2 or 3 "free" kills in the early game can decide the game. Obviously the entire hero pool being available to everyone has a big affect on the games as well, the hero picking stage being equally as important as the match itself. Picking a team of heros that compliment each other and counter the enemy team is half the battle, fail to do so and you handed the enemy team a serious advantage that they will most likely exploit to the fullest.

IMO, if your looking for the more "competitive" game of the two, I would go with HoN.

When did you last play the EU version? GOA have been out of the picture for a good two months (or more... can't really remember) and there are more players than ever. In my experience, the EU is slightly more difficult and unforgiving. All updates are the same now, so there is no more waiting needlessly for a new patch to arrive like when GOA controlled the servers. The fact is that there is no reason whatsoever to play the US version unless you have sunk a hefty amount of dosh into it.

Anyone wanting to play add me: zulubk (or smokeyzulu). Can't remember for the life of me which one it is due to swopping the login/summoner names on the two servers. :)
 
I started playing this. WOW its actually amazing. Screw HON and Warcraft 3 Dota. This is better for me.

The EU client is full up and always get a latency of 200-220ms. I smaak this game.

nick is dcbloodhound on EU servers,ping is rather high due to internet problems but that should be sorted out by monday.i'm lvl 5 atm,saving up to buy that big metal tank dude.
