Cell C Cape Town launch on 30th September

Awesome! Cell-C is launching in Cape Town!

Oh wait, we've been receiving crappy service from them for years now.

Here's a thought - fix your administrative processes Cell-C, get something as simple as a telephone bill right and we might consider using you again. Really, all this hype over the faster internet, while people are still faced with error-filled bills. I've heard these promises before, from the same company and yet, we still have the same issues. If Cell-C got their act together, people would flock to them, but they have ended up alienating everyone I know due to poor service levels, really poor administrative levels and in general poor attitudes towards resolving these issues.

I'm sure there's a lot of good in Cell-C as well, but I haven't seen it. Is their prepaid service better than their post-paid service?

Dude, seriously now? There's a bigger picture here than just your billing that was screwed and administrative problems ... All the other service providers have these kind of issues ... This is great news for competition, even if you don't switch, it will result in lower prices from the likes of EMPTY-N and VodaCON.

I for one will be ditching VodaCON as soon as Cell C's 3G is launched in Cape Town.

Can't Wait.

spoke to staff at canal walk cell c last night, confirmed today's launch. they wouldn't sell even upon begging :)

Strange... Their "find the right store' shows only East London shops and their coverage map says that Cape Town is not covered...

@Cell_C, any idea when the coverage map will be updated to include Cape Town?

Yup - Just got my SMS from Cavendish Cell C to confirm stock is in and todays the day!! Woohoo!!! Mobile porn here i come!!

can you guys from cape town let us know how the download speed and lag on xbox 360 and ps3 are with cell c (compared to vodacom 3G). thanks!

You mean the darker spots? Generally darker is denser coverage.

Hi there guys, I did a bit of a wrap on today's launch. I'm a bit sceptical of Reichelt's claims that gamers can plug the modem into a PS3 and play online like that. Buuuuuut... pings seem to be decent, with between 200 and 350 for London, and saw sub-100 for local (can't remember to where). Here's the link: http://technology.iafrica.com/features/677001.html
