Does anyone know of a locally available, preferably from a reputable online store, WIFI dongle for the WDTV Live that you personally know fully works with the WDTV Live and have used with Network Shares to watch videos shared over the wireless network.

I purchased one that's on their list of compatible devices and it didn't work at all, also I tried my luck with one I already had and it only partially worked so it would be really great if someone who's bought one and used it with their WDTV Live for watching videos over WIFI without any problems would please let me know where I could get one too, thanks alot.

:)

Which one did you get? And what does/doesn't it do?

I've got D-link DWA-131 http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=738 from Pinnacle.
Cant tell you if it works 100% because I don't have a Wireless AP or router yet. Will post feedback once I do.

Ad-hoc mode doesn't seem to be supported on the unit (for connecting my pc directly to the WDTV unit without a router).

Edit: no support for ad-hoc mode is a limitation on my wireless adapter (DWA-131) and might not be a limitation on the unit. See my post below...

So you're saying in essence one needs a wireless router in order for the adapters to be effective? Valuable bit of info that, thnx.

Well that's from what I could tell Happy Camper. I also read on WD forums somewhere that ad-hoc mode is not supported.

I wanted to get a pair for mah pc to mede8er, I guess it will be the same issue though. Can anyone else confirm adhoc wireless does not work without a router?

UPDATE: I have just established that the DWA-131 does not support ad-hoc mode.
from the manuel:
Unfortunately 802.11g/n products such as the DWA-131 do not support ad-hoc mode.

Park@82 if you successfully connect your WDTV Live to your wireless network using that dongle and are able to browse shared media on it via network shares please let me know, thanks.

Update: My D-link DWA-131 does work. But I would get a DWA-140 next time. From what I read the 140 is faster. See here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1381685
My DWA-131 connects at 150mbps instead of 300mbps. I am able to transferring files to and from the unit at 4-7 MB/s. Also able to play from a network share.

I started a support thread here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/287853-WD-TV-Live-HD-Support-Tips-Updates-etc
