What is this thing you speak of? Does UKZN have one?

UCT has a DC server with around 60tb of stuff, and doesn't contribute to our monthly quota. Don't want to say too much though, getting caught accessing it is not great...

Are you not allowed to access it? Then what's the point?

Don't worry I'm going to UKZN I won't use yours.

To put it simply, we get a certain cap per month, but nothing on the UCT server counts towards that - including the DC hub (as its hosted internally). We techinaclly not allowed to use it, as it causes a hell of a lot of traffic on the network. But that doesn't stop anyone, and almost everyone still uses it. So there is a point ;)

Having attended UCT, you will find its probably the IT guys who are supposed to manage the network that either hosts the hub or actively use it as well :D

Just a heads up, DC++ days at UCT are numbered. Enjoy it while you can...

Hey. Also want to know uct hub address. Would be thankful

I used to DC++ a lot. I would go to UCT over the weekend specifically for that. It's a great source for the latest movies and tons of anime.

well if theres a will, it shouldn't be too hard setting up another server in another dept isnt it?
also, doesnt stellenbosch also have a dc server? havent heard of any issues that side. then again maybe that R2/mb of back in the day helped their network massively (afaik uct's internet was always free). Thank goodness my uni's IT dept is worthless, they still getting to grips with MACs!
