An ex-Microsoft employee gets in bed with his former employer. Incestuous. Now that's a good reason to not buy a Nokia phone (not that I ever liked them in the past....)

*Waits for Roux*

OMG well goodbye Nokia, you have just signed your death warrant!

I honestly didnt see this coming, is it me or is Nokia just trying to please the Americas. Im hoping this will just be Symbian with a Windows UX overhaul, afterall Symbian is very robust and the current windows phone 7 is to immature for what we have come to expect from Nokia.

Nokia phones will go from freezing, rebooting for no reason and no audio with Symbian to....

freezing, rebooting for no reason and no audio with Windows.......

Personally, I saw this coming(Nokia staring down the barrel) when I got the so called top of the range N95 in late 2007 - what a P.O.S it was. I rejoiced the day it got stolen.

I have a Nokia N900. Best phone ever. Pity it's the last Nokia I'll ever have.

Nokia's problem was thinking that Apple and the iPhone are a threat, and trying to play in Apple's marketing game. Had they just kept their heads down and gotten on with making good quality phones (like they did before they got sidetracked by Apple's marketing), then they wouldn't be in the mess they are in today. IMHO.

anybody thinking that Nokia made a mistake..think again. ANYTHING is better than s60v5...if you don't believe me I have a "top of the range" N97 * to sell you.

*killer feature: the phone randomly reports that its charging ... when unplugged! have to reboot (+- 20 sec) to see what the actual battery life is.

The smartphone game has just changed.

Hold on to your hats. The Apple iOS vs. Google Android vs. Nokia Windows Phone match has just started.

And it's going to be brutal!

Fusking FAIL, guess I won't be getting a nokia anytime in the next 10 years, even symbian was better then WP7....

I wonder if this is curtains for Symbian...
probably

um i have a nokia phone with amazing hardware but the OS sucks balls. Symbian is fail.

Do not compare old Windows phones to Windows 7 phone - they are not the same thing. Give Win 7 a chance in the market to improve and it will be a good operating system that competes on the same level as andriod and iOS (iOS sux imho; symbian was restrictive cos it could not do anything, iOS is just plain restrictive. At least on Windows 6.5 i could what i wanted).

Nokia was dying cos Symbian was fail, what is the point of having great phone hardware but you cant use it cos the OS fails - that's what nokia's problem has been. These two teaming up makes perfect sense - we should all have seen it coming. Nokia needs and operating system and Win 7 Phone needs a partner to get its product into the market.
