Thought I'd start a thread covering the company's that WASPA has unsubscribed me from - I submit a complaint to them with each message, they reply with the company name and that I've been unsubscribed.

Yesterday for some reason I got a bulk load from WASPA - I submitted one complaint last week, so I'm not sure if its one company that got my company from one of the below providers and provided it to multiple services.

See how many companies I can collect, it will also be interesting to see if companies re-subscribe you, as I'm sure I've seen some of the providers more than once.

These were all delivered with the following text:
In terms of WASPA Code of Conduct 5.1.4. This confirms that you have been opted out of a service supplied to xxxxx"

  • Smssmart - smssmart
  • Just Money (PTY) Ltd-JustMoney
  • Infinity - fidentia
  • Silver Solutions 648 cc - SilverSols
  • Sybaritic Trading CC - Sybaritic
  • Strike Media - twice now, even after a huge fine.

Not with WASPA

It has always been a problem and it will just get worse. As an individual you have no chance of getting to Police to assist you, and WASPA etc only cover a small percentage of the actual culprits. For the remainder your only hope is to sue them which is beyond the means of the majority.

I see spam smses in the same category as the guys handing out pamphlets at the robots, and the guys delivering unaddressed mail to your home while you are at work. I simply refuse to accept anything from them, and hopefully if enough people do the same the companies will start looking at more effective distribution channels.

My dogs always tear the mail that gets delivered to my home to shreds, and it takes me 15-20 minutes to pick up all the pieces. One of these days I am going to lose it and drop a box full of paper shreds at the offices of one of these companies who continually deliver spam.

I've received a series of SMS spam this morning, all using the same number:

079 334 8406

I sent STOP but that just resulted in yet another SMS!

The companies being advertised:

1. Direct Axis
2. Auto & General
3. Clientele Legal
4. Hollard
5. Budget Insurance

Five SMS in 40mins!

Can anything be done to block this number from sending me SMS? I have no facility on my phone. Surely this is abuse of Vodacom's network?

New one, not under WASPA - what can I do? I've sent an email to Vodacom, but don't expect any decent response.

I got this same SMS multiples times from +2782007024004995

I've got a spare cellphone and cellc prepaid sim

this number we use when required to fill in a form requesting a cellphone number

we do get spam on that number, but we just ignore it.

Besides, it's a prepaid SIM, if they start to milk it, we just stop topping it up, let them incur rejection costs on their side.

I don't give out my cellphone number on forms or contracts, just the head office number... but I've had this number for years.

That was sent from a modem as all the longcodes issues to WASPS are 084xxx, 083xxxx & 082xxxx (the traditional prefixes).

Nothing you can do as they are bypassing WASPA requirements.

When you complain to WASPA, they request each WASP to unsubscribe you. Some WASPS will respond with a SMS even if your not found on their database.

After requesting assistance from Vodacom Customer care regarding spam from this number - they ignored me - now I'll request assistance via hellopeter.

Just want to poste this link http://www.smscode.co.za/

Sms MAG to 32681 apply

It shows that the number 32681 is for Nashua Mobile (Pty) Ltd
Unfortunetly +2782007024004995 is propably a modem. Not sure how these work on the networks.
