iBurst testing ‘next generation’ WiMax/LTE network

Good grief! I can't believe this company is still in existence :(

That just goes to show, some consumers will put up with the worst service...

@Valis: If you know who to speak to the customer service is great and I've never experience any major issues with the internet service. Also Iburst's current data plans are awesome, I can download +-100GB a month, on wireless, for only R450pm. I can also play all of my games online. best of all I'm not paying a single cent to telscum.

"Trailing"

Just another way to say 'we have nothing to add but would also like to be in the news'.

iBurst have become totally irrelevant and they know it. They insist on sticking with their dead-end technology because Parvin is still stuck in 2005 and believes you can sell a 1Mb/s modem, the size of a small car, needing an external power supply, for R2000. And users will be happy with this. If they can get coverage.

Their only response over the last few years have been to drop prices and give away more data. This is great for the few customers left but exactly how do you survive by giving away more and more to a constantly smaller customer base?

At some point you must start making money and stop burning the stuff. To do this you must have a product that people actually want to buy, at a profit. iBurst do not have this. Currently they are losing thousands of customers per month, mostly to Cell C. How long can this go on if you have less than 50 000 to start with?

Same with their current Wimax network. How many people on this forum use their Wimax network? Not even a hundred.

Now they want to build another network? With whose money? If they can't even pay their bills, how will they fund this? Vodacom saw the writing on the wall and walked away. There's no more Knott-Craig family funding and any new investor will want to look at those pesky business 'things' Parvin thinks is not important.

Like profitability. Or a balance sheet that's not blood red. Neither which iBurst have.

Eish, Jannie, what mess have you left behind ?

Rather walked away from in frustration.

Van Zyl and Briggs saw the writing on the wall and steered the company away from iBurst to a SME focussed unit. This was met with so much resistance and sabotage by the likes of Parvin, who believed the future is in the dead-end iBurst technology, they all walked away in disgust.

Parvin got what he wanted. He now runs iBurst. Rpm should ask him by how much his subscriber base is 'growing' per month. ;)

The same who logs in as ExSalesman because he is to chicken to use his real name? That is like sending your family members to the ASA to do your dirty work?

Really? That's the best response you can come up with?

Do you really think turning threads into personal attacks is going to defocus from the facts? Sad.

Why don't you rather post how many subscribers you are losing per month and, if you want to get personal, tell us about all the infighting happening in management at iBurst. ;)

Wow you are bitter and personal about this.

I'll be the first on to say that r00igev@@r has more respect from me than you [or Van Zyl]. I've clashed with him a few times over issues with iBurst but he's still here trying to help the best he can. Very committed and is trying hard.

iBurst are trying to keep with the curve and get LTE ready, at they are manning up to the challenge. If they fail, at least they tried.

Ex*****.

In the words of Russel Peters, "Be a man, do the right thing!"

...come out, come out, wherever you are...

I can download about 1tb for the same price and have non-stop uninterrupted service

I get so themoerin when people don't know what they're talking about. I've been with iBurst for 3 years now and can count the problems on my one hand. They are not out of the market as long as there's line rental, dsl rental and data cost on a fixed line.

Where will i get 4 GB a month for R198 @ 1Mb/s. Telscum's line rental cost is almost the price of my complete package.

Cell C? Try get good reception at my house. Not even Vodascum works properly.
