Cheaper 'own-device' broadband pricing from Vodacom

Laughable; especially since they STILL charge more per MB for higher data usage.

Can't wait for my contract to expire, then to Cell c.

And what an absolutely ridiculous slogan 'Red is switched on, Vodacom is red.'

Red means 'stop'. Which is exactly what I am going to do - stop using them.

This promotion essentially reduces Vodacom’s mobile data pricing as follows for subscribers using their own devices:

500MB - R149 (down from R185)
1GB - R249 (down from R285)
2GB - R339 (down from R385)
3GB - R529 (down from R565)

A move in the right direction. I'll take it for now.

I still see red  :p

Any decrease in the price is a good thing, however it does feel a bit like an after thought as its not much better than the previous outragous prices and of no benefit to guys like me on the 5 gig bundles.

Pity i read the headline and got all excited, huge anti climax

Why dont they equal cell c 12 month offering?
Now that will be noteworthy to report.

Same here. Thought I would have options, but its Woooosh all the way. Im sorry if you dont have a monopoly or at least try to be competitive then your asking to go down.

Vodacoms new prices would still look pretty silly next to cell c's "promotional" prices...

There was speculation Vodafone, er Vodacon, would use the re-branding to launch a slew of exciting new products/initiatives.

Well I hope all you V customers are wetting your pants at this truly exciting announcement.

And please folks - be responsible - don't trash their network with your excessive & unreasonable use of bandwidth. It's a struggle to maintain the 1mbps speed already.... :erm:

Sent using my Cell C 5Gig data bundle (OK prepaid for 12 months) for R166 @ 9mbs.

:D :D :D

"What has become a (perplexing) standard scenario with Vodacom is that high end users get the short end of the stick."

The possible issue with charging more for the higher end users (not by much though), is that they want people to use less data... so give the smaller users rewards. I know it was a policy we followed where I work for a while. We wanted people to use less bandwidth... crappy policy, but it does work to a point.

As much as they seem to be trying to convince us otherwise, it seems they can't change their true colours at the end of the day...

I doubt it. More likely they don't know how to use a calculator....
