let me first apologise for creating yet another such thread but im really confused about what to choose

ok tomorrow i will be going to telkom and cancelling my DATA part of my contract with them. im paying R130 for 5gb + 20gb local

instead of using them i will go uncapped but still on the 384 line

i intent to download mostly from news servers and occasionaly from megaupload/rapidshare etc

currently with telkom i get good download speeds (35-42KBps) after hours

what would be the best ISP to use. i would like to get this right the first time and would prefere a month to month contact/subscription

Try openweb, I am with the standard 386 account, and seems like you can switch to IS or VB depending if you wanna use torrents or not and currently on VB I'm getting good speeds. Have not tried the IS backbone to confirm if you can indeed do torrent DL and so on. I normally DL from http seeing that torrens are block on it.

I use mweb and would recommend it though. Torrents on 4mb adsl come down in the evening at + - 130kb/s and 20 - 40kb/s during office hours.

XDSL 384k

Where do you stay?

I have a XDSL 384K Uncaped. It is R450 p/m No throtling, No restrictions, Constant speeds of between 47KB/s - 49KB/s and i average 80GB p/m

The line is extremly stable and was down only twice in the past 2years for like an hour or two!
Oh, and the suport is realy great!

Perhaps you mean 37 - 39 kB/s.
