Cell C is not the fastest, says the ASA

Thats one less " o" in Woooooooosh .

They have had this coming for ages, i would be surprised if this wasn't preempted by the marketing folk.

Dear ASA

Put this into your pipe and smoke it!

So how come MTN can still claim "World class internet" ?

Cell C falling down the drain

I have been using Cell C since they came into Jozi last year. They have been nose diving ever since, speed was only in the region of 3mb for the first 2 months and its all banners since then.

Fluctuation is "awesome", undependable, always breaking. I used Voda 2 weeks ago and i was quite impressed. Steady 3.5MB plus.

They must stop deceiving us!

Cell C's online coverage map also creates the impression that the advertised high speed data is available throughout Johannesburg, which the complainant said is not the case.

It also seems that it can change at any point. I had a Whoosh! for 4 months before grinding to a halt for 2 weeks. It came up, but the last few days indicated EDGE and the speeds were closer to GPRS. Someone in the Cell C forum mentioned that coverage in Randburg has changed as well and he's no longer covered.

If any of you Fanboys want extra data, I'm selling my SIM at R1,150.00 with 38GB - or modem/SIM at R1,500.00. As many issues as I had with Vodacom, I rather pay double and have *slowish internet than pay Cell C for nothing at all.

* by slowish, I still mean 2+mbps which is ideal for me

If only one could get those speeds with ADSL...

Its actually shocking that our fixed line operators don't offer speeds like that to the general consumer.
Usually your fixed line connections are much faster than mobile connections but This Is Africa.

With the current rules of the game, I think it will be unwise for any network operator to claim that they are the best, fastest, biggest, etc.

There are just too many variables that could change that "bestest" tag into the "not-so-bestest" at very short notice.

+1

Couldn't agree more, my modem even when within full 3G reception is anything but whoosh. I have to conceded that Cell C's coverage in my area is much better than the other networks but they clearly need to beef up their backhaul capacity.
