ADSL Modem/Router advice please

Need a new one and was thinking of getting this for the modem http://www.dlink-me.com/index.php?navigation=products&owner=28&product=29&product_details=14,

and this http://www.dlink.com.au/products/?pid=768 or this http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=DIR-615 for the router, can't decide between wireless N and a print server. I need to connect more than 1 pc, which is why I want the additional router with more ports.

How would I set these up? Would I need to disable the router function on the modem? Just need to make sure I'm not going about it the wrong way (only used an all in one before), I'm opting for 2 devices as I've seen a few people reckon a separate modem might save the router and PCs from a lightning strike. Any truth to that?

Also has anyone seen a wireless router with gigabit Ethernet?

Very nice little router, has everything u need build into 1. Wireless N, print server, can even take USB hard drives and make them network drives.

Dont know bout the lighting strike saving one device, but having struggled setting up multiple devices on same network i`d go for one device, with a lightning protector. You get a nice one which the telephone line and plug goes through. I think telkom sells them also.
 
I was considering that one a while ago, I'm still against one expensive device though. IMO lightning protectors do not work.

Could someone fill me in on setting up the two separate devices together? Just need a basic idea.

I am in favor of multiple devices. I had a modem hit by lightning and only one port of the connecting switch (separate device) was damaged. So I only needed to replace modem and my 8 port switch became a seven port switch :D

I am currently using an Asus RT-N16 router (with gigabit ethernet) as well as a telkom mega 105 as the modem (with the wireless turned off).

You can also look at the TP-LINK WR1043ND (also gigabit) which is very good value for money. It is also available on BidorBuy for R545 from the same people.

+1, don't use the WR1043ND specifically but the W8960N. The service from Uniterm is always outstanding too.... Excellent products, excellent pricing and excellent service...
 
Thanks for the advice guys, think I might go with a bit of a cheaper 100mbps router though and get a 1gbps switch later.
