Slowly but surely becoming a more common problem. Two of my co-workers in my immediate work area now have congested exchanges, my exchange (Ridgeworth Bellville) is now congested after hours, luckily not during business hours yet. I see few threads in the first couple of pages of this forum with congested exchange complaints.

If the list is big enough there must be some kind of action that can be taken to forcefully get the issue rectified?

same here (La Rochelle Bellville)

its really bad, 200 ping to CPT, 500+ to europe

tha lag THE LAG

La Rochelle / Ridgeworth Bellville here as well... its getting bad lately ...
Rumour has it our exchange will only be upgraded around Nov / Dec... then again its only rumours.

hmmm if we had a complete list of exchanges then ppl could make a comment next to theirs. Anybody know of such a list.

I am in Stellenridge, on the Belleville North 4 DSLAM, which is congested at high peak times for residential users, like Wednesday evenings, and Sunday evenings, when every1 is at home doing who knows what.

PIERRE VAN RYNEVELD is congested at high peak times as well for residential, I'm not sure who else is on it in the area but after 18:00 it can get bad.

Rosslyn Pretoria,

2 many lines on the cables, Exchange overloaded and telkom full of ****.

18:00 is pretty much exactly when things fall apart here every evening.

You can add the Somerset West exchange to the list. The thing is conngested as fsck! Getting 1000ms on average after hours and it starts claming down to about 500ms later at night and only returns to normal at about 11:30 - 12:00pm. I'm sick of this ****. Thinking about cancelling my ADSL, but only after giving them a little bit of uphill.

You can add the Somerset West exchange to the list. Think it might just be our DSLAM in our neighbourhood though. There seems to be a load of congested DSLAMs all over the place as well. (Too small a link to handle the traffic back to the exchange). The thing is congested as fsck! Those aren't individual exchanges.EDIT: Referring to telkom site.

tbh not too bothered about this...my exchange isn't congested. (Selfish ftw).

I know the feeling, I've had DSL since 2004 and my exchange/line was always perfect, excellent latency and one line fault that was resolved quite quickly. Then one day like a month ago, bam, its all gone to crap.

On that BBstats site, click on Provincial Statistics. Then click on View Province Details. Then click on View Exchanges by District/Suburb.

Very interesting info!
Yeah that is pretty cool.

wth is going on in germiston...100% 10mbps support.

Bwahahahaha this says that the Panorama exchange is 10Mbps capable. I am on this exchange with a new laid cable to the house (less than 2 years old), I am paying for a "up to 10Mbps" line but I can only manage up to 3Mbps on the line and the line still drops out every night roughly at 18:00 and again at about 20h30.

I'm gonna start a restaurant with the same idea as telecoms in this country... "up to 1Kg steaks for R120.00"

we will endevour to try and give you the best service we can but we do reserve the right to only supply 50 grams when demand is high and supply is short
