3Gb left-over on databundle vanished just like that

Hey Mr CellC rep

I've downloaded a few odds and ends beginning this month, most notably iOS5 for my iPad, and a few other things.

Last time I checked was that I had 3Gb's left.

Then I put my SIM and dongle in my pocket, and forget all about it - until now when I wanted to download Ubuntu.

So I started the download, all goes well... then all of a sudden I receive an SMS to say that I've got less than 250Mb in my bundle... then later on, another one saying less than 100Mb.

So I took a shufty at my bundle, and was all :confused: to find that my bundle is depleted.

What is going on? :(

Same thing happened to me last night. Was lying in bed watching series on my tab and I get an sms less than 250 megs left. Didn't check until i finished the episode and by then I had 75 megs left. Wan't downloading anything and as far as I can tell no background programs running. Lost about 800 megs.
 
Fred, same thing happend to me on my tab, turned out it was PULSE, an app on the tab that used 800mb of my data! I removed all the news feeds ( as I dont use the program, and it cant be uninstalled as it is preinstalled) and now my tab is behaving again.

Now I installed an app to monitor all the apps data usage, and an app that will switch off 3G.

I am experiencing a lot of data disappearing from my 2 Gig Speedstick. I use the Speedstick on my home PC, only in the evenings, and only for email, light browsing and an occasional YouTube clip. However, in the past 2 months, I'm averaging 100MB per day (sometimes 200MB in minutes), which is totally out of proportion with my actual use.

I've scanned for bots and malware, and have automatic updates switched off. I'm watching it closely, but I can't understand where my data is going. CellC is mystified too.

Hmm, I have a dongle plugged into a router - router reports 3.X G used Cell - C reports that 5G has been used, so I am interested in seeing the resolution to the reports above.
 
My mom is using the 2gig prepaid package from cellc as well, she has mentioned similar things happening to her in the past, I would like to know if something is bein done about the matter please :)
 
Hmmmm I wonder if this is not the same with me, I did not track my data use but did find it odd that 5G that normally lasted me a month is all gone on the 10th already. I just thought it must have been some bad browsing on my part.

Pity I did not run proper log's to check so I guess I am fresh out of luck.

This is interesting! I have installed a browsing monitor on my machine now, so will watch and see whether my Speedstick's report of usage is very different.
 
Ok I am starting to get a feeling there is something very broken on the Cell C network.

My Data SIM that I suspect lost some data this month, 1st had a RICA issue saying that I did not RICA, and now that my SIM is working again I am getting SMS's from numbers I do not know talking about people I dont know.

I have never used it to send or receive SMS's and dont even know myself what the number for this card is, so I know for a fact its not for me.

I know the feeling - I've been waiting for feedback for over a month now - I still am no wiser as to what is going on. Oh well, cellc have lost another customer - I won't be back once my 60gb deal expires.
 
what do you guys use to track your usage? Bitmeter?
