I have been buying from TRL for a few years.

Early in December 2011 I, and others I know dealing with TRL was invoiced for January and invoices had to be paid by 15 December 2011. Whitch I (we) did.

There was an interuption in the service, and a call from Cybersmart telling that my (our) service was blocked because TRL did not pay their account to Cybersmart. And that I was welcome to deal with them - Cybersmart - directly.

I not only buy bandwidth from TRL they also administer my line. So I was on the phone to TRL - no reply!!!

So I emailed and got a response back that I should not worry and I can ignore the message and invitation.

Obviously I was now worried because I am paid up for January 2012, bandwidth AND line.

So I wrote an email to TRL with my concerns on 30 December 2011. - No Response.

So at last its the 2nd of January 2012, I can not use my TRL bandwidth, a call to Cybersmart tells me that I shoud talk to TRL since TRL has not paid them and therefor my username is blocked.

Has anybody else had this problem?

What happens if an ISP that administer your Telkom ADSL line do not pay Telkom?? Does it automatically revert the rental back to me or do they - Telkom - just cut access??

Telkom will disconnect the service. You will have to re-apply for service in your own name.

Hi PPJ

There seems to be a financial disagreement and a relationship breakdown between TRL & Cybersmart with Cybersmart terminating TRL's access on three previous occasions due to several reasons. I know that TRL has had ongoing debit order issues with muliple deductions for the same service(s).

Your line will remain with Cybersmart, however unpaid - therefore you should contact them to arrange for a new account directly with Cybersmart or PM me your TRL login name and I will see if I could perhaps assist.

Regards

Michael

I also have been using TRL for some time now. They did double debt me for a few months and it took some time to sort this out due to not being able to contact them, but it eventually has balanced out. My account was also cut off mid Dec and I was not told the reason for this, but that it was being looked into. I was given another temp account and since it was the holiday season I decided to wait for them to get back to me. Cybersmart called me last week and told me the news that TRL had not paid them so they have suspended their services and would be able to take the existing TRL clients on themselves. I don't have my line TRL but with another ISP but Cybersmart would like me to move the line to them so they can offer me a good deal for the package.

I am undecided if I want to do this as I have never had a smooth line move in the past with other ISPs, but I do like that Cybersmart are trying to help us poor TRL users by giving us options. The only ISP that I can find that is offering a similar product for a similar price is Afrihost. I have had very little experience with them (only a 1gb free account from rAge really).

I probably with go with the Cybersmart offer, but I just hope there is no poop from TRL if I do.

I have just noticed that TRL have debited me again on the 30th Dec even though they debited me on the 15th Dec for Jan. They have not sent me invoice for this but they have sent through an invoice for payment on 15th Jan. This seems like the same confusing mess that I experienced a few months back when they were double debiting me. They had better give my money back - I hate having to sort their mistakes out!

Hi

We will honour all services that you had with TRL. If you can show us that your account was debited erroneously, we will not charge you for that month. Bottom line, we will not charged you if you have already been charged.

One thing i would never do is sign my line over to any company . This is a prime example why.

Better

I have been taken care of by TRL in the mean time and alltough I am still very uncertain and unsure about what to do, I am happy for now. I will however definitly move my line back to Telkom.

I have had a few opinions and explanations about TRL from them and from this forum about the Cybersmart situation and are not so sure that TRL is the (only) badie. Cybersmart was agressivly working to get TRL clients - not nice to try and get your clients, clients:erm: In the telephone call I received from Cybersmart I was told twice that TRL did not pay and that I was "more than welcome" to deal with them directly:confused:

TRL have admin difficulties, and that is not nice for their customers. They do sort them out....... in time:(

Despite TRL's problems in December, that they brought over themselves, those calls from Cybersmart did unmeasurable damage to TRL.

By starting this thread I did the same  and hope that forum members will beware of opportunists jumping on the band wagon.......

Well done Laurie.

This does not sound very ethical.

Bottom line for me is I have not been happy TRL since the double debt issue a few months ago - Not because they double debted me but because there is no communication for them at all. One thing I can't understand is when companies don't keep their cleints informed - we are all reasonable people and understand that problems come up, but avoiding your clients just makes them angry.

Thanks Laurie. I'll be contacting Cybersmart shortly to organise moving over.

You could be in breach of contract. Are Cybersmart willing to pay any penalties you might be charged by TRL?

Its month to month and they don't have my line so it shoudn't be a problem especially considering Laurie's reply above.

No TRL rep active while other isps swoop in on their customers, looks bleak for TRL

This TRL guy is screwing us over. No internet for the past 3 weeks. First claimed that there was a problem with the line and he logged a call with Telkom. After 2 weeks he claims that Cybersmart does not want to transfer the line to Telkom and he's busy negotiating with them. Bull**** story
I contact Cybersmart and they tell me that TRL has not paid them for the past few months so they cancelled all the TRL ADSL lines....yes they just cancelled them so now I have to reapply for ADSL line.
TRL hardly answers his phones and when he does it's always a cock n bull story. I could have had my internet up and running within a few days had they just told me the truth. I'm really pissed off

I don't have insight into what transpired between TRL and Cybersmart, but I do know that Cybersmart have been giving their client ISP's a very rough time. I would look closer at what precipitated this rather than just pointing the finger at TRL.

Your statement is factually incorrect...

TRL lied, simple. All he had to do was tell me my line was cancelled.
