Raspberry Pi budget computer enters production

Still, it'll be interesting to see what these can be made to do.

Remember the primary objective of the project is to get the young 'un's into programming, instead of just playing games on 'em ;)

Was what I meant: poke (and peek?) :p around in the system where the 'game playing' is learning how to make it do stuff rather than turn it into a game device or something like that.

You are correct, they are totally different.

The Rassberry PI project is intended to get young minds active and interested in the ICT sector again (in the UK).

It's basically a low cost SBC (single board computer) or to quote the organisation

An ARM GNU/Linux box for $25. Take a byte!

The purpose of the project is to push these single boards computers into schools and tertiary centers in the UK in the hope of resurrecting interest in the ICT sector.

The Ubislate is just a cheap tablet for the masses.

At R283, give or take..

I can think of MANY uses for this.... I will probably end up with these things littered all over my house doing automation tasks...

Yup, I think it would be an awesome security solution. Think "smart IP camera" (just add a R50 usb webcam). Then you can even do some image processing on it...
