I believe it is limited to one per customer initially. I'm sure you can scrape together 4 mates though :)

Today’s sales are limited to one per customer, so that as many of you as possible are able to get their hands on one. Starting in a month or so, you will be able to place batch orders with both Premier Farnell and RS Components for as many units as you want; you’ll also save some money on postage by doing this.

What are you intending using it for? (I suppose at that price does it even matter!)

What additional costs are there over and above the board? I cant seem to tell, does it have an SD card reader built in or do you attach one to the USB port. I really wouldn't mind dropping OpenElec onto one of these and scattering them around all of the TV's in my house.

I've checked both the za and uk store for RS but it still gives the "register here" page. if you could find out what the direct link is would be great :)
 
Well, I emailed a Farnell distributor, and they said they will find out for me, and haven't come back after that.

Seems that you can only pre-order, and Farnell and RS will do production, so batches will be much larger than 10000. There is still no indication of when the first ones will ship.

I'm guessing the RS registration page is for them to get a feel for demand to get a number for production...
 
Just for clarification, Farnell and RS don't do manufacturing of anything themselves, they are distribution companies, yes they will slap their names on anything they sell.

The announcement by the Foundation was that due to the wide reach of Farnell/RS, they could realise much bigger distribution numbers in the short term, therefore contract much larger batches and gain the price benefits from that, to achieve their goals. The boards will still be contracted out to a volume contractor in the East.
