A black hole in the universe - JHB
I bought the unit and have set it up. I have to play with the settings a lot I guess.
I am using my PlayonHD and am watching different movies which are HD.
I find that the playback is very animated, seems like it is not playing at normal speed but rather slightly faster.
I can see by the voice, the actual picture seems to be playing faster.
I have tried different movies, same thing.
I am watching on 16:9 on both the TV and the player.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Using HDMI on the side of the TV

Which model? Also what do you mean faster?

Maybe the 100hz technology ?

Doesn't work with all media

Any way of turning off trumotion? As that is sometimes the cause of things looking too fast, remember you should only have trumotion on if you are watching fast paced sport.

I see Dolby got in there quicker ;-)

42LW4500 and it is normal MKV's running off the Playon, you can see the picture is slightly too fast.

Lip sync over HDMI seems to be a issue, here is one solution maybe? Alternately did you try to connect sound via optical/coax and not HDMI?

Now for the lip sync problem. This is a problem that you'll see when you use an HDMI cable from at least certain HD cable boxes. Mine is a Motorola DCX3000 from Comcast. The sync problem is PRONOUNCED. It is less so with the component cables but there a bit. The FIX for this is to go into your cable box settings - for my DVR this is done by keeping the TV on, powering off the box with the button and then hitting menu on the box or remote. I then go into "other HDMI settings" (or something like that) and under Audio - SWITCH IT FROM AUTO OR DOLBY OR PASS THROUGH TO PCM AUDIO - THIS IS CALLED "L-PCM" ON MY BOX and that will fix the audio sync problem.

Go through the menus, should be away of turning it off, a lot of people say CMR/Tru motion lends a fake look to TV's.

I did say there isn't anything wrong with 50/60hz TV's, and it's not really a massive problem for non fast paced things turn off trumotion. It also comes down to playing with the settings

3 pages? You should have read the 20+ page thread on avforums ;)

Just turn off all the post-processing crap.
Set your HDMI port's name to game, and ensure you have the latest firmware.

Um. Go to the source input screen, select the HDMI port and I think it's the green button to label it.

No that just labels the input it does nothing press the q.menu button on the remote press to the side until the colour function is there and choose the game mode

Hmm. That goes counter to all the wisdom on avforums but what you say does make sense.
Do both, to be sure ;)

It turns off the majority of the postprocessing.
