Apple iPhone 4 / 4S contract deals compared

hmm didnt know they come in 8gb variants, thought 16gb was the entry level.. but still I reckon getting a contract is still a bit pricey. (150 meg a month ?? eish and a whopping 25 sms for free - sms is dying very quickly)

Think it's 100 bucks.. i'm on one of those packages, but never hardly ever make calls or sms, so can't really tell.

Yup, it's a R100 worth of airtime. Can be used for calls, SMSes, or data.

I reckon the iPhone 120 contract from Vodacom is the best value for money smartphone contract in the market

Would be interesting to know how many units of the 64GB models get sold.

I guess it would mostly be politicians and local government officials who do not know the difference (or care about it because its not their money) that get those. ;)

If you pay the handset cost upfront on that contract R1199, it becomes R450 a month.

Its a pity the author didn't include the iPhone 240S contract:
500MB Data Bundle, 240 Free Minutes, 100 SMS, R549 per month (handset is free on this contract)

Yip, I have one of those. Seems to me to be the best value for money.

Great deal that, only R50 more gives you double the minutes.

Jan- perhaps you could update our list in the article with this information? Appreciate the consumer focus you placed on the article.

The iPhone 240S contract possibly is I think, but either still represent good value on these products.

Such a shame that there are no Android-specific contracts like this...

Pertaining to the Vodacom deals, I guess these are on new contracts, and not upgrades ?

If you read properly, you will know that the 8g variant relates to the older iPhone 4 variant. The iPhone 4s starts from 16 gig onwards. I agree the Vodacom deal is by far the best option. Coupled with a superior network, it is no brainer to go fo the Vodacom contract. MTN got greedy. They always offered the best iPhone contracts but not anymore. I am moving away from them this year. I am not happy with their network coverage either.

R100 = 43 and r200=86 minutes, so fot the 4s, VC deal offers 120 minutes and 500mb data vs MTn 86 and 250 mb.
Think the calculation is wrong. MTN anytime is R2.50 per minute.
So R100 = 40 and R200 = 80 minutes. I can be wrong.
This is one of the very reasons I am leaving MTN (not for the iPoep, but their rates).
They do not even discount calls in their own network.
