Hi all,

Im looking for a good free anti-spyware program. My question however is, do you really need a dedicated anti-spyware program if you already have a anti-virus/anti-spyware program? I currently use Avast anti-virus which in my opinion is excellent and I have no intention of replacing it. It trust it completely when it comes to viruses. However, do I really need a dedicated anti-spyware app aswell?

If so, then what do you recommend that is free. I use to use spyware search and destroy a couple years ago, not sure what's around these days.

thanks.

Rule of other hand Thumb: Always use a non IE browser!!!

Depending on your browser habits, Microsoft Security Essentials is usually good enough if your using a browser like Chrome, Opera, Firefox or Safari.

If your surfing serious dodgy sites, then rather do so in a virtual environment like Virtual Box.

Not going to try and convert you but I found MSE to be better than Avast free version, the paid Avast however was really good.

Jaa i use MSE and not had any problems i also have windows defender but it is switched off by Microsoft security essentials both are free and work .
I use chrome to browse

Malwarebytes + Avast Free Antivirus, updated = FTW.

or

Microsoft Security Essentials.

I'm also using MSE at the moment but before this I also used Avast Free. I like their pre-boot scan. It makes so much sense, why do other programs not also use a pre-boot function.
