BBM, MXit, WhatsApp get new competitor in ZiNG

Sounds good, always good when competition comes along to [try] spice up the market.

Interesting way to make some money by clicking on adverts, but I can't help that the feature can be abused?

Nah they will easily make enough profit off the people paying for the adds to give away the free airtime. It's an interesting concept though, advertisers should adopt the app quite quickly as more people will click the adds. Would be interesting to see how they decide which adds to show...?

Do these people not test their service before they frekking launch? That Samsung one..think its called ChatOn had the same problem iirc when they launched.
 
Another IM app! After most of my contacts are already on Whatsapp, why would I want to download another app and wait for all my contacts to do the same? If zing has the ability to send to Whatsapp and vice versa, then would I consider it.
 
Yay. Another IM app. People have just started using whatsapp, after more than a year of being available.
 
how much airtime do you have to use, linking to a whole lot of websites, in order to generate 5500 points? Costs you R20 to get R5 airtime.

How much time will it take? a couple of hours? is my time only worth R2.50 an hour?

Unless you get 500 points a click i've got better things to do with my time.

Good luck to them though. Its always good to have competition.
 
I don't like ads, especially on touch screen phones because you always have to avoid clicking it by mistake. There may be some people who are willing to click an ad 1000 times to get R5 for "free". It will cost way more in data though to get that R5. Possibly even hundreds of rands with the price of 3G.
 
although, Whatsapp charges after the first year of use, so you may get people jumping ship later
 
Bump this thread in a year when it will either be popular enough to actually use, or dead.

Actually they just give you another free year... Worst case if you actually paid for it is $2 which I'm sure I can manage.
