Hi there

Illovo, Joburg.

Reception not great, has to be improved before I can use it. (Tested on a 2+1 bundle).

Would also love to have 8ta in Grahamstown and Tzaneen.

Edit : Took another chance, bought a 60+60.

Bearable quality, but could be better - still worth it for the price, though.

Note : I complain about the quality, but it is still better than 4mbps ADSL (which is really poor in this area).

Another Edit : Whoopee, 8ta 3G now working in Tzaneen, at great speeds !!!
Thank you 8ta, that solves one problem, one 60+60 activated !
Now, what about Grahamstown ?

What can 8TA do to make you a happier customer?
More Stable speed/latency and fix the disconnecting issues in the evening.
Also instead of sending sms notificatons to the 8ta sim as some people have the dongle plugged into a 3g router. Allow an option for the user to recieve the notification via an email address or alt Cell no.

Sort out the rubbish speeds, latency and the constant disconnections.

How it's so rubbish only they know, since my tower is like 400m away : /

Continue to keep the speed high and the latency low, haven't had a problem yet

Im non-roaming on the 8ta and get speeds of 2 - 5mb/s. impressed at the stablity of network with minor slowdowns during peak times which is hardly noticeable. very reliable. in the crawford area, cape town. i would be happy with regular data promotions, further data bundle price reductions or a significant increase in the size of data bundles for prepaid users.

More Stable speed /latency and sort out the disconnecting issues in the day / evening - my connection keeps 'freezing' and the light on the USB modem goes from turquoise to dark blue (it is currently alternating between the two here)

Speed & stability have dropped alarmingly in the last month or so from what I was getting before.

I can't get 3G coverage at NMMU, even though their coverage maps show I should.
After midnight I get disconnected constantly, not sure what hte problem is, but see other people here mention similar experience.

Package: 10GIGS + 10GIGS promotion.
Active usage: -/+ 6 months.
Location of use: Roodepoort West, Johannesburg (Home - 80%) / Sunninghill, Johannesburg (Work - 20%)
Connection: Good when actively surfing but drops connection on larger file downloads or updates.
Good for local gaming but latency (Ping) is very high on international servers.
Reliability: The 21MB/s modem overheats, which ultimately led to my modem being fried and soon replaced by 8ta
(Fault could be Huawei not 8ta).
Criticism: A replacement or "temp" modem was not provided when my modem was in for repairs,
this needs to be addressed as people use their internet for work purposes.
And for the two weeks it was in for repairs i was still billed for a full month.

My Rating: 5/10 - Fair.

I use the 2+1 GB prepaid special and most of the times I get 10kb/s download speeds and their customer service is not good. They must just boost the coverage, I use the connection in Boksburg. Maybe once or twice a week I get 3Mbps downloads

Rosettenvile

it hardly works the way it should. It switches over to edge a lot and the connection keeps dropping. Haven't played battlefield in over 2 months. 2/10 :(

60gigs + 60gigs special

Decent, but not amazing, speeds most of the time.
Would like it to be more consistent. On the odd occasion, speeds can be terrible.

Connection drops happen occasionally, which is very annoying.
Especially when you are downloading large files that don't support resuming.

I'd rate it as fair. I've moved over from CellC, and 8ta's performance has been a bit better so far.
I'd like to commend them on the pricing of their specials.

Will be very happy with the product if they can sort out the disconnects and occasional poor speeds.

Edit.. Ooops... was meant to post in the Cell C thread... mods can delete this.... sorrry.

Bloemfontein - 8ta non- roaming SIM, best speeds 8-11 MBps. No widespread covarage, reasonably stable when in good coverage area, tho latencies can jump all over the place at times.

4/5 Prepaid - 2+1 promo's

speed, stability and reliability?: good/good/good - odd time it lags on international but they all do

In which area/s you use your connection?: North Beach, Durban

What can 8TA do to make you a happier customer?: With prices your doing great - just don't let the network turn to trash with too many subscribers unless you can keep on top of the congestion with upgrades - CellC seemed to fall into that hole.
