Hi there

Can you please rate your iBurst Wireless connection on speed, stability and reliability? Do you get what you expected, or is your experience better or worse than what you expected?

It will be great if you can also tell us:

  • In which area/s you use your connection?
  • What can iBurst do to make you a happier customer?

Please post your comments in this thread (by posting your views you will stand a chance to win an iPad 2).

Speed, stability and reliability: Fast enough normally and quite stable & reliable.

Do you get what you expected, or is your experience better or worse than what you expected? I've been using i-burst for long enough to know what to expect. The actual internet connection is really not bad (when ships keep their anchors away from the cables), tech support and accounts are however non existant at best.

In which area/s you use your connection? Kempton Park

What can iBurst do to make you a happier customer? Fire the entire accounts dept and employ some competent people.

Getting a max of 400Kb / s with 96% signal strength. Averaging 200-300kb /s. A far cry from the 1Mb/s promised.

with the cable breaks this realy isnt the best time to rate connection speed and stability :wtf:

+1 We will see a lot of frustrated members voting "Pathetic" at the moment. A bit unfair on iBurst.

At 100% I get an average connection speed of 500kbps but most of the time the signal is around 90% in which I get an average of 300kbps some days at the same +-90% I would get 100kbps max. The connection is reliable and stable most of the time so you will have internet when you need to check mail and browsing but when doing more than that iBurst is pathetic.
iBurst's accounts department is the worst department I have ever dealt with.Replace them all!
My area is Lansdowne (Cape Town) and I use an external aerial.
To make your customer happy fix your accounts department and connection speeds.

I get 100% signal, and without the cable breaks was getting very good speeds (relatively speaking). iCall works despite the cable breaks, and iSMS saves me hundreds of Rands per month.

Area: Noordwyk, Midrand.

Make me happy by sorting out your accounts department.

What can iBurst do to make me a happier customer? Try and improve their speeds, I get amazing full 1Mbit speeds at times and at other times (when the weather is just as good as when I get the 1Mbit speeds) I get horrid speeds. 384K type speeds. If they could try and sort that out it would be awesome.

I also think a decrease in the uncapped anytime VAS would be good as R199 is a bit steep. Or at least have a midnight 2 morning only uncapped VAS.

I use iBurst at my house, near Cresta. I was a previous iBurst customer and then went ADSL and am now back with iBurst. They are what I expected (I had hoped they may have gotten better though).

I have been suffering lately from poor speeds, not only international. It took me some good searching to find out there was a cable issue. Non the less since last year Nov i have been running below 1mb download speeds, where before Nov i used to get very close to 2.5mb out of my 3 combined modems.

Bryanston - Iburst is reliable but not very stable. Sometimes I get 800+KB Up and 300KB Down and sometimes it is 300KB up and 100KB down. Signal strength is usually about 70%. We subscribe only because Telkom is almost totally USELESS on ADSL. They promise 10MB but we only get 3.4 Mb and that is scratchy. On Monday mornings it is always exciting when you get to the office - has, or has Telkom not disconnected our ADSL line over the week end?

What can they do to improve.
Increase amount of towers - cheaper prices brought more useres, so inevetibly more useres per tower, lower speeds :(
Better comunication - took them too long to advise users of the EASSY fault and problems, those of us that follow this stuff figured it out but doubt the layman would
Better back up plan - as proven curently what ever back up plan they have just isnt able to cope, due to a fault

Hi
I have being with Iburst since 2005 and would not change to anything else it is the" better connection",yes you can get faster, but have you tried to solve a problem with them,or what do you pay for that extra speed that is only there for a while but on average,it is not that much faster, i know i have test side by side for a month,as far as i know the first to offer data carry over, the easiest to increase data size or get some more before the end of the month. The fact that i can walk into Iburst and get a new unit or upgrade try that with the other providers. As to cost per meg there is nothing cheaper for ADSL need to include line rental+bundle
i could go on but all i can say whoever wants to get into the wireless service they will need to come up with something really great to move off the Top.
my meanings of:
ADSL Another Dead Slow Line
3G the cost per month to get a decent bundle.
Neotel or is it Notel cant remember.
on the negative side
Yes they could have being a bit quicker to say why there was a speed problem but i don't think you would get any info from the other suppliers either any faster.
For those that have a speed problem just use an external aerial i notice if i don't then i do get differences in speed.

Forgot to add

What can iBurst do to make you a happier customer?
-Very slow (but that could be the ancient desktop modem Im still using)
-every week or so the email goes down for half an hour or so

but considering been using it for at least 5 years at work and never really had any issues I'm happy to stick with them as it gets the email and news24 job done without any problems
