I would disagree. There is no advantage to getting ripped off via XDS over any other mobile broadband (excluding BIS).Compared like-for-like, XDS is no BIS killer, but it is an interesting start to cheaper uncapped packages for non-BlackBerry mobile devices in South Africa.
Really wish companies would stop toying with us now. For me, I would be happy with R70 p/m getting a constant 512kbps, with no
extra shaping. Block youtube too if you wish, I just need the basics like email, basic web, maps etc.
With any modern smartphone simply leaving it connected and allowing it to update facebook etc will kill that in a matter of days.My guess is that if you look at your volumes, XDS would probably fit your bill ...
Streaming media included No; YouTube blocked No; no blocks BIS
256kbps = throttledThe article should point out that 56 kbps is essentially useless.
256kbps = throttled
56kbps = strangled
Correct me if I am wrong, but I was always under the impression that YouTube was not blocked for BIS but you had to pay for the data used?
Theres no way anyone getting 7.2Mb/s on BIS.
I just a did a test ... first time timed out (20,000ms+ time out) but on the 2nd occasion I got 1391ms and 43.7kbps download
that sounds like the kind of service I also get most of the time... on BES and BIS handsets... so 256kbps would actually be an improvement on BB
its not major hassle for me, i only use BB for mail, and occasional BBM, so dial up speed is OK, but hell, when the odd time comes and i want/need to use the browser and the thing snails on, with 'good' signal, the phone damn near gets damaged.
