Facebook and death

When Karen Williams’ son died in a motorcycle crash, the U.S. woman turned to his Facebook account in hopes of learning more about him.

Williams found his password and emailed the company, asking administrators to maintain 22-year-old Loren Williams’ account so she could look through his posts and comments by his friends. But within two hours, she said, Facebook changed the password, blocking her efforts.

I guess they will have some not in place that will pick up when people start posting a lot of RIPs

So privacy goes completely out the window when you die? It doesn't only concern the recently deceased but everyone that was in contact with them.

When a family member died I emailed Facebook and they removed the account. I was quite surprised as they didn't ask for any proof.
 
I am completely opposed to this... I wouldn't want anyone to have access to my account.
