Top rated ADSL ISPs in South Africa

Competition resulting in good results. Congrats
Correct. The average scores for all ISPs - except Telkom Internet - are very high. This shows that the ISPs are respected by their clients and are giving good service.

16k responses. Damn. Thats way more than I would have thought.

Would have put Mweb higher than that. They're kicking ass atm & yet only 5th. Weird.

Telkom Internet's results are influenced by people who dont know the difference between Telkom (the people who you rent the ADSL line from) and Do Broadband (the company that handles data accounts).

Do Broadband has no more control over your ADSL line than Afrihost. If people looked at Do's data products only (as the survey asked), they would have scored much higher. The Do Broadband data accounts have excellent speed and excellent reliability and some of their bundles are the cheapest on the market.

Defending telkom inferno can become like climbing a mountain of mudd. Top 3 dont surprise me, they earned it.

Hhmm.....interesting results to compare when looking at which isp to choose. Should direct all those looking for an isp and adsl to this chart.

I am a regular customer of the top three and don't have any real complaints although of the three Afrihost had the worst tech support.

Something very interesting that I found is none of these ISPs have a decently priced 20GB accounts. You can pick up a 15GB account for around R190 or you can get a 30GB for close to R300.

Why no 20GB account for about R210? This is obviously the sweet spot on peoples data usage. I know this because it is mine. 30GB is more than I need and 15GB would make some months too tight.

Force people to take the uncapped option for +- R197 for 1 meg and then +-R297 for 2 meg and thus hold onto the ability to shape when required.

20GB accounts would replace the need to uncapped accounts for a large amount of people imho. I know I would like one; 2 meg line with 20GB for +-R200 would save me +-R100 on giggage I just don't need....

meh

Well that's your opinion isn't it, My sweet spot is around 40GB's so I think they should release 40GB accounts for R390...

Afrihost support is appalling. To suggest otherwise smacks of corruption.

I have found Afrihosts' support to be good whenever I have had to deal with them.
Congrats Afrihost for coming out on top, although I do wonder if the iPad promo skewed it, even though all you asked for was for people to participate in the survey.

The price war is far from over so we are only seeing the state of play at a point along the way - the value of these surveys is that they also allow the ISPs to see where they stand and adjust accordingly - the value of open competition!

Considering so many MWeb customers not feeling the value for money, I'm surprised they haven't moved to Afrihost. Whats holding them back then?? Is it a problem of complain complain complain, but too lazy to move?? Just asking.

I'm still looking around, but found Axxess more forthcoming than Cybersmart, These latter people had all sorts of conditions that they would not budge from, and also took a long time to answer emails. Axxess answered within an hour and provided correct answers.
