Asus xonar D2/PM not emitting sound

Hi there guys.

I have recently purchased a D2, from a friend of mine. He has used it for well over a year, and I know it was working when I bought it. I just cannot get the thing to output any sound. No matter what setting I use. He is also stumped.

I have double checked every setting, uninstalled realtek onboard audio, disabled it in bios. Using the asus Xonar aydio device as my output in windows. I have plugged in both my headphones and 2.1 speakers, while setting the audio center at the following:

Channels :2 Sample Rate: 96Khz Analogue Out: 2 speakers (when using my 2.1 speakers) and headphones (when using my headphones) SPDIF is unchecked

The sound is registering via the software center on the EQ, you can see sounds being played, but nothing is actually heard.

I have been searching the forums, and everyone's fix is the analogue out setting. But i have tried them all, with all different combinations.

Please, there must be some Audiophile out there that can assist?

I am using windows 7 64bit with the Steelseries 7H without the USB sound card, plugging the 3.5mm jacks into the mic, and front inputs on the back of the card.

Have you tried the UniXonar drivers?

I have Rudimental, and still the same. I am going to look for the older drivers as well, as I see it helped out another person on another forum.

Select 44.1 KHz sample rate for a start.

The Xonar card that you have will switch between the RCA outputs and the 3.5mm ones when you select between 2 Speakers or Headphones.

Have you tried selecting like FP Headphones and plugged it in on the front audio panel, which would require the AC'97 cable being plugged in on the sound card and not on your motherboard.

I'd suggest that you go through the following settings again:
1) make sure that the volume is at a decent level (50-100%) everywhere: master volume / mediaplayer/winamp
2) ensure that it is set as the default playback device, both in Windows and in your media player
3) use the HF button on Xonar Audio Center to disable all effects

Lastly, does your motherboard perhaps have a second PCI slot that you can try the card in?

I have gone through all those steps. I have also tried it in the second PCI slot, still to no avail.



I am using the D2/PM, and not the D2X with power connectors, and FP connectors and what not. As you can see, it is registering the music, but nothing is being played through my headphones.

Have you used the RCA sockets yet?

Have nothing to plug into them. even tried the 3.5mm from the headset.....lol. Nothing.

I must add again, the headset and speakers all work 100% with onboard and via the USB soundcard that I got with the Steelseries.

Does it work in your friend's PC?

Haven't tried since I got it, but will make a plan during the week....

But it was working when i bought it. Took it out of his, into mine, nadda.
