Completely disagree.

Look at Apple's strategy with device shapes.

How has that worked for it.

What Nokia needed and still needs is a completely different OS, which is what it is getting soon with Win8 and WP8.

Anyway Nokia still makes great phones, and it's a huge tragedy if they go down. Build-wise our 610 is amazing for the price we paid. At the same price level you can get a plastic, creaky Android handset or a bb9300 :sick: or...nothing really. Not to mention that the headset is really fantastic.

I am saying that Nokia doesn't need something completely different in as much as Apple doesn't need to have a design completely different from the iPhone 4s.

Have a look at the new Lumias. Not completely different but great looking. Just a refreshed look.

You also forgot to mention the heavily granulated screen resolution on Android devices in the 610 price bracket, running on Froyo (or Gingerbread at best).

Yeah I agree. The new Lumia designs (or mockups or whatever they were) look nice. The problem for them is 100% around Windows Phone 8's future.

I don't understand why they don't make andtoid available as well as windows. Has Microsoft demanded an excusivity deal or something?
 
Nokia should beef up their phones processing power and stop wasting time with over the top camera phones. Nothing is as pathetic as a phone that lags, and the luminas before this were laging badly. Screen resolution could do with a boost as well.

Common Nokia, give us a decently speced phone for win8. Remember, Samsung is definitly going to be producing a decently speced phone for win8.

No they weren't, where did you get this idea from? They ran perfectly well on WP7. A lot of the limitation you think was there had to do with WP7's own restrictions on hardware and screens.

That was also a factor of WP7's limitation, with 800x480 being standard.

Lumia phones were quite well specced.
 
It would be good for competition's sake for Nokia to capture decent market share again, but I just cant see it happening.

How the mighty have fallen - its funny how quickly bad management and lack of strategic direction can sink a heavyweight in any industry.
 
just tossed my Nokia Lumia 710 in the bin. The OS is complete garbage... its really is... utter garbage! :sick:

I would quite honestly have a Blackberry... and that is saying a lot! :erm:

nah I didnt literally throw it in the bin, but I was utterly disgusted with what they trying to pass as a mid-range phone.

I mean common... Its one below the Lumia 800 which until recently was the flagship. Its also got the same 7.5 mango OS and THAT is that problem I have. Its the biggest load of garbage I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot. Dont get me wrong, I think Nokia are making some nifty devices again, and to be honest it was a damn well built device for its price range. That Lumia 800 is also lank solid in the hand and it doesnt feel like the plastic that Samsung sell these days. yes its true, take a deep breath.

I really was left scratching my head when I got this device as to how the OS could be so butter smooth when flippin around various menus within settings/config etc etc. For me one of the biggest apps, and most popular right now, is whatsapp. Any OS that cant run whatsapp, or isnt optimised or whatever well that leaves me with some serious doubts in my mind.

who wants to click on a new message and wait for 15 sec while the screen freezes? messages not coming through at all, or the phone literally freezing if you type too much into the text field.

I think the basics need to be right...

Gimme a Lumia 900 with JB/iOS and Im happy as a sandboi! Until then.... I have no phone!!!! :p

Whatsapp is terrible on 7.5 I can't agree more. But the rest of the os experience is decent and very smooth and the phone itself is great from a hardware pov.
