Mweb offers free uncapped ADSL for 2 months

Contract... ewww...

They should just be nice and let us sign up for 1 month and cancel for free. I'm sure they wouldn't really lose money in the long-ish term.

Does this only apply for 1Mbps, or can you get a 6-month 4Mbps uncapped contract with the first 2 months free? The website doesn't seem to give that option under for the 2-month-free promotion

Well, it's not for 24 months like some people do. So you would be paying for 4 months and receive 2 months free? Sounds like a good deal to me.

Bottom line, YOU fail to see that it's not viable for a company to offer 2 months free and then get that client to cancel after their free trial period (I know 90% of the boards here would do that)

So the 6 month contract gets them to break even on the 2 months they give you... it's a normal marketing strategy to get people to try your services and then have a small window where they can then opt out without being locked in anything for years.

I quite like the offer. I was looking at getting uncapped as my line was upgraded and this might just tempt me

I'm looking to try out MWEB from next month and this is a great deal - only if they offer it for 4MBit though :/

All-in-one 4mbps uncapped pricing comparison

Afrihost - 1 month = R697
Afrihost - 6 months = R4182 (R697 x 6)

MWEB - 1 month = R899
MWEB - 6 months = R3596 (R899 x 4 | 2 months free)

For a R586 saving, it's not worth signing a 6 month contract with MWEB. Rather go month to month with Afrihost. Their uncapped packages are pretty good, though MWEB's network might be a bit better. MWEB's customer service and online portals suck, compared to Afrihost. That was my personal experience, I've used both of them.

Would this be valid if I switched my uncapped month to month data only to a line + data contract? :D

Afrihost uncapped is the reason I want to try MWEB :)

Unfortunately at the moment Afrihost is battling. I would not recommend it to anyone until they move networks and get their capacity sorted.
You only get close to decent speeds after hours and phoning customer services is not worth it because they just keep telling you that it will get better but nobody can say when.

This is where they lose me.

Sooo ... uncapped internet for 2/3 the normal price (get 6 months of service, pay for 4), and you complain about the contract? How will MWEB make money from giving someone internet access for free for 2 months, then have them cancel straight at the end of that period?

Hi Fragtion,

This offer does include the 4Mb uncapped accounts.

Please note that this offer is valid for new subscribers only.

They'd just attract a large number of leeches who will sign up just for two months and cancel without paying a cent. 6 months is reasonable.
